How to identify if your heating service requires maintenance?

AIR CONDITIONER MAINTENANCE

How to identify if your heating equipment requires maintenance?

Every air conditioning system needs maintenance and tune-ups due to the progression of time and its natural affectation in appliances. In cities that can reach low degrees like Raleigh and surrounding areas, counting with a proper heating system maintenance is a must for homeowners.

This could be the deciding factor between experiencing a cozy winter or living an uncomfortable nightmare of season, and added to that, some of the consequences of having an unkept heat pump can be reflected in large bills and foul odors.

In this post, we are going to provide you a few tips to identify when your heating service needs maintenance.

Energy bill too high

When a home appliance like the A/C or the heat pump is malfunctioning electrical bills tend to reflect it. If you notice a significant change in the same period of time compared to previous year, maybe it is time to call for service.

Remember, appliances consume too much energy, and when broke, tend to overwork and even double their consumption. Consumers can save about $30 per month just by having their air conditioning system cleaned and serviced regularly.

Unrecognized smells

When malfunctioning, the heating system can produce unrecognizable smells that often mean something may be melting inside, like a loose plastic part.

If, after a few minutes, the smell is persistent, it is best to call for maintenance service because it is no longer a small inconvenience, and it can be a symptom of a much larger problem.

Noise

Have you ever turn on a malfunctioning light and it starts buzzing? Well, these noises are often signs of a maintenance need. If the heat pump is whooshing, banging, or making screeching sounds that are not normal, better be prepared to call for assistance because not only are they annoying but also demand technical intervention in your heat appliance.

The consequences of ignoring these noises could result in damaging the whole system with no repair solution.

Not enough warmness

The Triangle Area can go through really low degrees in winter, which means that for having a comfortable temperature at home, you will need an optimal heat pump.

If you turn up the thermostat and there is no corresponding increase in the temperature, it's time to call for service maintenance.

The presence of cold spots can become a homeowner nightmare very quickly because, not only the comfort of the family is at stake, but also the heat pump.

Why can’t you ignore even the smallest of problems?

Every little nuisance can become a bigger problem very fast. One day, on an instant, a small loose part can led to an annoying noise, to a melting part, to a foul odor, and finally to cold spots inside a house, on a city with 35ºF on average.

Keeping this in mind can save you a lot of money in the long term, especially if the service you are requesting has highly qualified technicians that know exactly what to look for. As leaders of the industry, in Carolina Air Conditioning we keep our team in constant training.

Every appliance needs maintenance. It is imperative to have this done at least once a year, especially if a season in which high-use of a determined appliance is coming, like a heat pump in winter.
